Amber and Ross shared their heartwarming story of how they met at work, how years later they starting dating despite having to embrace a period of long-distance romance, and how their career choices eventually led them to settling in Alberta & calling it home. Their descriptive and adorable retelling of those years really resonated with us and instantly we knew these two lovebirds would be a joy to photograph on the happiest day of their lives.
The wedding date itself may have been October 31st, but the theme was anything but Halloween. Although Now Sapphire was decorated with coffins and skeletons draped in fake cobwebs for the other guests, the dĂ©cor for Amber & Ross’s wedding matched the wardrobe colour palette perfectly. This, coupled with the picturesque weather we were graced with would have you in disbelief that kids were getting ready to be costumed and go trick-or-treating on 5th avenue among the tourists. We knew we were in for a fun day regardless the “holiday” and Amber, Ross, and their family & friends did not disappoint. They were so overwhelmed with happiness, being reunited with so many loved ones from Ontario, and it was exceptionally moving to be able to witness it all, both through and beyond the lens. Obviously we still have our bouts of homesickness and missing family living so far away, and we had already connected with them on that level prior to their travels. Documenting their loved ones reactions and emotions throughout the entire day was truly special, and will stay with us always. Amber describes Ross as kind, patient, big-hearted, and generous to everyone he meets. Ross characterizes Amber as exceptionally motivated, strong and organized. Together, they compliment each other perfectly, and we feel that unwavering love they have for one another really shines through in the photos from their wedding day.
