A fun & Festive Wedding at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort

Having previously lived a life of travel, Tamara & Jody have since found themselves loving the quiet life. But that wasn’t about to stop them from having the wedding of their dreams in somewhere hot, sunny and tropical. When asked about what she looked forward to the most, Tamara had this to say “we look forward to having a good time in Mexico with our friends. We have friends who have young children, single friends that are going to relax and have a few laughs, and family who are just discovering the thrill of traveling. I can’t wait for our families to meet!” When you’ve moved several times for work, it means you don’t always have the luxury of being around your family, so it was a no-brainer to cover all their bases by having a destination wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

An Adorable & Fun Destination Wedding at Azul Fives

September is a difficult month to commit to getting married in the Caribbean. It’s notoriously one of the rainier (if not the rainiest) month of the year. In turn, Mother Nature can be less than kind, bringing unexpected rain at the worst of times, which is my gentle way of saying sometimes a ceremony will be rushed inside when weather is less than ideal. Thankfully Jen & James weren’t going to let a little rain ruin their day of celebration. We took advantage of the outdoors when possible, and found spots inside to take refuge as needed. Azul Fives has a hidden gem with their Cantina Mexicana 1910 that was the perfect air conditioned hideaway when the humidity was nearly unbearable. And all weather woes were completely forgotten once the reception started, tequila shots were poured and the dancing began!

A Sun-Kissed, Destination Wedding at Grand Palladium Riviera Maya

Megan & Simon are sweethearts who met randomly at snowmobile competition and have been inseparable ever since.

As Megan explained “Simon always joked he would never get married. I secretly fantasized about a party with all our friends and family, changing my name to Malone, but we had such a good thing going I was happy all the same. You can imagine how shocked I was when he took us up to the same mountain range where we had our first date 3 years earlier, and proposed! How could I not say yes? Once people started asking us about our “plans”, I couldn’t imagine doing it anywhere else but on a beautiful beach by the ocean after a week of vacationing with our nearest and dearest.” Looks like dreams really DO come true!

Having met 13 years ago through a mutual friend who introduced them to one another at a local Winnipeg bar, Cristina & Nelson decided it was about time to say “I do!” After a romantic proposal at the top of the Eiffel Tower, Las Vegas, they decided a destination wedding at Hotel BlueBay Grand Esmeralda. We had a fabulous time with the guests, bonding over our Winnipeg roots and playing a little six degrees of separation.

A Romantic Destination Wedding in a Diver’s Paradise at Occidental Cozumel

Stephanie & Yin are an athletic couple, who feel most in their element when active, be it hiking, marathon training, skiing, kayaking, camping or cross-fit. They also share an intense passion for scuba diving, basing all travel plans around where they can explore the deep waters. Naturally, a wedding at Occidental Cozumel on the gorgeous island of Cozumel made perfect sense.

On the topic of scuba diving, what better time than now to *dive* (all puns intended) right in about Yin’s charming underwater proposal! As Stephanie retells the tale, “Where most couples go on their honeymoon, we went just to dive, Maldives. Being half way across the world, and on a liveaboard for several days, I did not expect Yin to propose on this trip. It was too risky… several flights, lots of water, minimal luggage and security. But he did it.

On our last dive of the liveaboard trip, he proposed underwater. What was supposed to happen and what actually happened are two different stories, but my heart melted either way. During our safety stop, Yin pulled out a banner made by one of the dive guides, “Stephanie, will you marry me?”. I immediately said yes (verbally, underwater, I might add) and then gave him the underwater signal for “OK”. With a near empty tank, it was hard to stay below the surface, so at that point I went up, not realizing that Yin had the ring with him and had pulled it out underwater. On the surface he presented me with the ring and everyone cheered. Following, we had breakfast on the boat (that was a 0600 dive) and toasted with a bottle of champagne a wonderful American couple bought for us. It was perfect!”

Stephanie & Yin, what can we say here that we haven’t already said in person? You two are such a perfect pair, sweeter than pie, and we are so happy to call each other friends now. We are thrilled what the future has in store for you both, and look forward to catching up every time we’re back in Canada or you’re visiting Mexico.
